Musings of a recovering... 9-16-2023: Train!?! :\
The ultimate hipster move that I have stumbled upon is to ride my bike to the train, load my bike onto the train and mozy my way up to Santa Fe for the day. It made for a pretty fun day: a compare and contrast opportunity of abq and santa fe.
- 9am-ish ride to the train depot. See the ride with my video
- 10-ish The train arrived on time and loading my bike was easy
- 1130 How does the train end up moving so much slower than a car? I realize that it makes extra stops, but the fact that the train takes nearly 50% longer than a car really keeps it on the sidelines of mass adoption and practicality. On the plus side, I met another guy with a bike on the train and chatted for most of the ride. The stories and details you hear from strangers continues to surprise me. Family history/homelessness/drug/trauma/rehab/persistence/etc. Not a life-changing, answer revealing conversation, but very interesting.
- 12 Santa Fe. Time for fancy coffee surrounded my attractive people: not bad. The bike trails around the rail yard are decent too. Sometimes better than ABQ but certainly not miles ahead in quality nor usefulness outside of recreation.
- 1800 Abq calls. Make it back by 8 via train
- 8pm See snippets of my ride back from downtown. My gopro camera (or my settings) doesn't love low light.
Too tired to finish my video, but this one is a much higher quality substitute
