designate a trash pickup area at the end of alleys? maybe coordinate with a neighbor who can dispose of an extra bag. doesn't seem like we'll collect more than 1 bag per alley (of trash) with regular maintenance. 1 bag per alley collected today.
lots of weeds. Having a group weed cleanup event might be a nice way to meet neighbors and start with a cleaner state. With a handful of people, it shouldn't take more than an hour or two to pull the most obvious weeds.

Will need to think about the best way to dispose of the burnt chair in the Way of Light alley. I put in a 311 request for removal of a street obstruction. we'll see what happens with that. If it isn't picked up in the next week, we can bring a wheel barrow and appropriate protections to move it.
lots of signs of people using the alleys for urination. Fewer signs of defecation, but still present. For a simple solution to address the smell/waste, we could keep a small/medium pile of extra wood mulch in each alley and use that to add cover to areas as needed. A toileting experiment (composting toilet setup, porta potty, etc) would, I think, be worth bringing up with neighbors to see if there is support and how to address concerns but that feels like a separate project.
