Musings of a recovering...

7-16-2026 Working alleys part 1

Took a trip south to the Reyna Luz Way of Light alley today. Not more than a single bag of misc trash was observed but a burnt lounge chair will need special attention and a small collection of sharps require special awareness, containers and disposal. FWW has a lot of experience picking up sharps. I noticed weeds that could be pulled and questions of where/how to deal with trash came to mind.

I'd like to minimize vehicle use, so having local spots to place green waste and general trash would be great. I think we can discuss local options with some of the surrounding neighbors. Tawyna already has a compost pile in her front yard. Sharps can be brought to NMHRC for disposal. Sure to have more thoughts on PPE and safety processes.

Couple more alley visits and reflections planned for next week.

Talked with Tawnya today but no other neighbors aside from barking dogs. I've met many of the neighbors but don't remember most names yet. There is a board in the alley where we could post a flyer with info about the alley cleanups, who to contact, etc.

All a work-in-progress
