Imported on 8-17-2026 to consolidate where records are being kept.
301 laguayra. Just north of copper there's an empty lot.
Cones of dirt divide the property.
Maybe the owner plans to grade the land
the house that was there has been demolished
It's hard to find definitive answers
I walked onto the property and made by way to the southwest corner
Tarps and some type of scaffolding creates a barrier to the elements for someone
Before getting too close, I called out hello
Without much delay, I met Abraham and dog Bella
A neighbor recently mentioned that camping was happening on this lot
so I came by
Abraham and I talked for 30 minutes
Getting to know each other
Trusting each other, I believe, with honest answers
A positive introduction to establish interest in future collaborative work
From laguayra, I went over to Domingo/Madeira
I've been gone for a month and see a lot of new faces
One guy recognized me from previous walking workshops
A group (3) of us talked for another half hour
Lots of conversation of housing, money, safety, goals, roadblocks, etc
I met Moe who spent some time over at Quirky Books
We talked safe outdoor spaces, the new Tewa motel owner
And the upcoming ribbon cutting at 300 San Mateo (10 story tower)
Next Tues at 2pm
The news is interesting and
I mention it because it's useful to keep in mind
there will likely be increased area patrols and attention
What will these people do? Where will they go?
I try to listen at least as much as I talk
It's a practice
Have they heard about smaller efforts? Compassion Center? Quirky book?
EPC? 400 Grove St? Family connections? Legal help?
As we talk, a car pulls up to another group 100 yards north
a passenger gets out to hand out meals
You could say I do motivational interviewing
If it needs a fancy name
Exploring individual skills, learning about community
searching for humor and motivation
Exposure to and interaction with this energy is largely the point of these workshops
Gotta get over this flu
Then back to it with some more funds and focus
Probably this weekend or next week
See you in the neighborhood
