2nd time to Cal Linn for FairWestWork
3 to 4ish. An afternoon delight
State of the Heart's clinic closed
A Joy junction truck is giving away food
The line is 10 deep
A security guard walks and watches the SotH grounds
So I walk to the closed alley behind the clinic
The fence near southwest musical theater's lot has been cut in multiple places
So I go in and meet Donald
He is startled awake as I get within 15 feet
No longer alone
We talk and he joins me for work
We stay in the alley
Talking medical, family, past, present and future
the hour passes easily
Before I leave
A few minutes to assess and intervene on a leg wound
Not looking great, but can be managed
No supplies on hand
we discuss options
Clinic options, housing options, bandages, long term mgmt, how to eval progress
Donald has a sister doing well in Virginia
They still talk
He uses the FairWestWork phone to briefly reconnect with her
As Donald talks, I move our trash towards the exit/entrance
A 2L bottle holds the sharps I collected
I asked the SoTH security if they take needles
clinic is closed. Tomorrow morning they open
I leave the needles next to the bags and tumbleweed
Donald and I leave the alley together
