Musings of a recovering...

10-15-2025: Domingera #7 - Visitors & adios

Imported on 8-17-2026 to consolidate where records are being kept.

Walking south on ortiz scoping out the weeds
the friary gates are open. Extra cars parked to prep for their wed lunch
parking lot covered in tumble weeds that creep to the sidewalk
work to be done

Met Kerri and Todd this morning
https://www.milebymileministries.com/
Intro'd to Erica who shares domingera insights
Isaac is busy with his own admin work today
Bear and Norman take shovels to work on the weeds at copper/ortiz

As I pickup trash on the west side of the fox building
Mondo approached and asked if I wanted to buy some jewlery
We get a quick understanding of each other
I offer work and he accepts
sets down his pack and grabs NMHRC's push broom
Sweeping the gutters takes effort
requires persistence
Mondo had no problem
Once done, he asks for more work

Erica mentions that I should talk to Leslie who works at ABQ treatment services
Another local business collaboration?
For the future
I scribble the name into my notes

10am arrives then turns into 1030 and I have to go
Kerri and Todd talk of creating a sign tomorrow
designating where to store trash awaiting pickup
on the west side of domingo

Done at Domingera
Heading North, I detoured to the line forming outside of the friars
Familiar faces and conversation keep me lingering
A new face, young Lily, appears with anxious energy
No one seems to know her
She needs a phone to call her mom
We make that happen

She paces and fidgets while talking over the road noise of San Mateo
11am. Really time to go
Lily hands back the phone and slows down just a bit
The friars' open in 3 min
Out of time, quick goodbyes, hasta manana

A reflection note from 8/17/2026

Shortly after 10/15/2026 and with minimal planning, I traveled to Argentina for what was planned as 2 weeks to help with family but, by necessity, that turned into more than a month. Upon returning, it took me some time to get back into mindset and habit of domingera outings. RIP suegro, Rolando y gracias a mi familia en Argentina y aca.
