Musings of a recovering...

10-10-2025: Domingera #5 - ACS. hmm

Imported on 8-17-2026 to consolidate where records are being kept.

9 to noon
chilly shadows; sweat in the sun
Jeff and new Bear are by a rock and concrete wall that protects nothing
It's quiet on domingera
Jeff and I catch up
Bear collects tiny trash in a nearby cardboard box
No signs of Texas who wants SSDI help

Jeff and I stick together around NMHRC and the Fox building
Bear is elsewhere
Gone, I thought, until she returns with another box stuffed
After an hour of work, I pay the crew
Check in with NMHRC for convo and sharps containers

Walking east on domingo
Brothers Isaac and Bear are now both arrested
JP now cares for their dogs along with his own: el guapo
mentions his old asperations of being a vet

A trio of ACS workers come around the corner
They check-in with a couple of tents and people across the street
"Do you need any services", one announces at JP and me from across la veta

No takers this time and they leave before long
JP and I talk of ACS: frustrations, criticisms then ideas
How to engage
How to be engaging
How to find mutual benefits
why to even try

East towards valencia/domingo to check on the radio tower
A quick hello to Yannie who is slumped at a stucco wall meeting the sidewalk
Others unknown to me, but we still exchange waves

At valencia/domingo, a small crowd chats in the shade
I insert myself with a hello to Gage
His hand/knuckle wound looks better
so onto neighborhood news mixed with a joke or two

Off again east on domingo
Tan sits on the sidewalk with some rocks and marbles
I listen for a few minutes, but I can't follow him
A language barrier mixed with I don't even know what
He laughs at my confusion
I think we get along
we remember each other

Looping back towards domingera
A fancy, tinted car circles the block and parks by the church
A woman quickly crosses domingo towards the vehicle
She looks down and away but answers to hello as we cross paths
I hear the car's door open and quickly close behind me
I continue west and think of the sidewalk tag
Why do they drive in circles circles circles

Hours have passed
more faces and names than I can remember
red bucket back in hand, bags and boxes set out for solid waste
To be continued Tues at 9
