Video helps me, but I hear some people just want to read so I'll try to write too.
Part of fair west and want to feel safer in the neighborhood? I recommend connecting and doing more within the neighborhood. Any of the following appealing? Questions/Comments/Other ideas, post away!
- Franciscan Friars on Copper and San Mateo accept help for the free lunch services they offer each Wed
- New Mexico Harm Reduction Collaborative offers services at Domingo/Madeira and they've been very open to sharing info and collaborating
- Walk and talk, pick up some trash (or not!), seek to connect with the parts of the neighborhood you don't know or that feel uncomfortable. I'm not the only one who does this, but I am looking for more co-conspirators
- Attend a neighborhood assoc event to meet more neighbors. Knowing more people in the neighborhood has really improved my sense of safety. We post flyers, online reminders and all of that stuff.
- Establishing goals and encouraging dialog with businesses and neighbors around the site
- Making partnerships with other local organizations with compatible goals
- Assembling a team to guide and assist with community with and site management
- People with time and tolerance for navigating the bureaucratic requirements
- Real conversations on how to finance these efforts and who/how we compensate
- Lots missing from this list. Write something if you think it matters
