On April 11th 5-7pm, the city will be facilitating an online neighborhood meeting related to the future plans for the 10 story building at 300 San Mateo (Just south of copper)
The city facilitator allows us (FWNA) to submit agenda items, so I'd like to collect ideas. Please post your ideas for agenda items here for consideration.
I need to submit our agenda items by Mon (Apr 8th) at noon.
For context, here's what I learned so far from the architecture firm that will be in the meeting:
Our Client is planning to convert the existing 10-story office building into apartments. As part of that conversion, he would like to add balconies to the units and some amenities on the roof (fitness room and observation deck). Due to the height of the building, these changes require us to apply for an “Expansion of Nonconforming Use or Structure” approval from the City of Albuquerque.

I live on the 400 block of Ortiz and hear the extremely loud music in my home that is coming from the workers at that building. Can we make a request to tone it down?
Thanks in advance.

I'm pleased to see this project back on track; it is a good example of adaptive re-use. Solving housing issues will require projects that produce dozens or hundreds of units, not a casita here and a duplex there.

Hi, I just sent you an email related to the loud music. Hope to talk more outside of this thread

Re: Agenda items for upcoming meeting about 300 San Mateo (smaller tower)
Here are my questions:
1. How many low-income units will be available? Will this building be mixed-income? We need more affordable options in ABQ beginning with projects like these. I'd like to hear from the developer if they do or do not intend to offer low-income units. If they do not, how can we advocate for them to consider this option?
2. How does the developer intend to create and sustain parking for such a large complex? I doubt the current parking lot can accommodate all residents and worry about parking becoming an issue for the streets nearby.
3. How long will this conversion take?
